Canadian Film Screening & Premiere: BENJI @ Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, Toronto, ON - Mon Oct 1st!

All Balls Don't Bounce Presents the second in an ongoing series of documentaries providing a first-hand look at the characters and stories behind the sport, with the Canadian premiere of the upcoming ESPN 30 For 30 Film Benji.

In 1984, 17-year-old Ben Wilson was a symbol of everything promising about Chicago: a sweet-natured youngster from the city's fabled South Side, and America's top high school basketball prospect. Nicknamed "Magic Johnson with a jump shot," Wilson's natural talents and drive assured his best years were yet to come. Then, in November of his senior year, the career of this exceptional youngster was abruptly and tragically cut short. Ben's grim fate sent ripples of horror through the city and the country.

Tickets are $13.00 and can be purchased at the box office the night of the screening or are available in advance here: http://www.ticketbreak.com/event_details/5424

Events @ Harlem Restaurant and Harlem Underground, Toronto, ON - Tues Sept 25th - Sat Sept 29th!

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 29th

Gyles ft James King Trio
Powerhouses vocalist and thoughtful lyricist - Ladies and Gentlemen: meet Gyles. One cannot deny this hardworking dynamo as her talents have amassed an impressive array of industry accomplishments.

Gyles' vocals are behind the hook of Juno and Much Music Award winner Carlos Morgan's "Baby c'mon", featured on Groove Essentials Volume 1. Soon after, she provided background vocals for Juno award winner Jully Black and Juno nominee Camille Douglas. Having been noticed quickly for a singing style bathed with sparkly tenacity, Gyles was brought on board as lead vocalist for Toronto neo-soul band Jamesking. Two of her songs have been awarded second place at the 2008 and 2010 Radio Star National Songwriter's Competition. One of which, has been featured in the major motion picture: Shark City - starring Vivica A. Fox. Her live performances have garnered her headlining honors for the 2008 Montreal Funk Festival and opening in 2009 for Ivana Santilli during Canadian Music Week.

Gyles is now on the most exciting chapter of her musical journey: writing for her solo debut. Spring 2012 will see the launch of her debut single "On One Knee" - a perfect mix of old-school danceability, playful imagery and silky strong vocals that will surely capture fans who appreciate real music, both young & young at heart.

Brazilian Blend - Fall Festival Finale

Sun Sep 30, 2012
Small World Music wraps up with a Fall Festival finale party and concert at Lula Lounge on September 30th
Maracatu Mar Aberto is the sound of the “Open Sea” – the rhythm of oars and song carried over the ocean, a little game they play with drums, voice and dance.
With its roots in Brazil’s maracatu de baque virado, Maracatu Mar Aberto is a workshop and performance group that performs and studies that northern Brazilian genre from Recife. Their style is traced through the lineage of Maracatu Estrela Brilhante do Recife and Mestre Walter de FranƧa, TrovĆ£o das Minas and Maracatu Nunca Antes. It’s a living tradition of maracatu developed collectively in a local context. Not simply miming an old folkloric tradition Maracatu Mar Aberto is growing in its new Canadian home.
Like their name, they play with the influences that have traveled from Africa to Brazil and onwards to Toronto and beyond.Their show is pure rhythm, emotion, movement and excitement.
Featuring:
Maria Bonita & The Band
DJ eLman (Dos Mundos Radio)
