Fans Can't Stop Loving Haydain Neale - Pix from the Tribute Concert

Friends, family and fans of the late Haydain Neale, frontman of the band Jacksoul, packed the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Downtown Toronto on Monday night for a powerful tribute concert in his honour. Neale, one of Canada's most talented artists, succumbed to lung cancer on November 22 after a seven-month battle. He had been in recovery from an accident back in August of 2007 in which he was knocked off of his scooter while in the east end of the city. His death came as quite a shock to many as many were not aware that he had developed lung cancer.

Neale's widow, Micheala and daughter Yasmin, who is currently attending university, were in attendance. Michaela, visibly grieving over her loss, read a prepared statement about her husband saying, "The subject he wrote about most often was love...Love is the guiding force in his daily life...Haydain loved people, he thrived on positive relationships with his family, his friends, business associates and anyone he met along the way. Haydain believed that if we all took a little more time to love each other, that strong foundation would see us through the tough times that we all experience."

The event, titled "Can't Stop Loving You: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Haydain Neale," drew a sold-out crowd of adoring fans of the Juno Award winning artist. Canadian music stars who performed at the tribute included: Chantal Kreviazuk, Nelly Furtado, K-os, Ivana Santilli, Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo, Dan Hill, Keisha Chante, Luke McMaster, Divine Brown, Justin Nozuka, Tommy Swick and
Wade O. Brown.

The tribute will air on Canada Live on CBC Radio 2 on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. and again on Canada Live on CBC Radio One on Dec. 18 at 2 p.m.

All proceeds from the concert and sales of the album, SOULmate, which was released on December 1 and recorded before Neale's accident, will go to the Haydain Neale Family Trust.

Aroni Awards Honours Toronto's Unsung Heroes

The 4th Annual INSPIRE 2009 Aroni Awards was another sold-out affair. The event, held last Sunday evening inside the Arcadian Court in the city's downtown core, is one of Toronto's most prestigious awards ceremonies and silent auctions dedicated to empowering and support the youth.

Recognizing the unsung community heroes in various fields, the awards show was hosted by Comedian Jay Martin and television personality, Patricia Jaggernauth. Special guest presenters for the evening included Hon. Margarett R. Best, Ontario Minister of Health Promotion and Joe Pantalone, Deputy Mayor, Toronto City Councillor. The event was created to inspire and reward young people for their outstanding community achievements.

Education Bursaries were presented to three students, Chante Barnwell, Aman Y. Sultan and Troy Knight for post-secondary schooling. Despite having challenges in their lives, they have perserved and continue to demonstrate excellence while pursuing their dreams.

The AronImage Awards were presented to:

ALL PROCEEDS GO TO THE HAYDAIN NEALE FAMILY TRUST

On Monday, December 7, 2009, Haydain Neale’s friends and peers will join on stage to celebrate the life and music of one of Canada’s most beloved artists. Haydain Neale’s legendary voice had been missing from the Canadian music scene since a serious motor accident in the summer of 2007, but his strength and perseverance during his recovery was moving and inspiring. Over the past two years, with the unwavering love and support of his wife Michaela, daughter Yasmin and numerous others, Neale finished production on the album he started almost 3 years ago. While privately battling cancer, Haydain went back into the studio with his fellow jacksoul band mates to complete the record.

On December 1, jacksoul will be releasing SOULmate, a collection of all new remarkable songs that tell of love, hope and endurance, set to his trademark unstoppable beats. With past hits like “Can’t Stop”, and “Still Believe in Love, jacksoul has been internationally heralded as an incredible artist that delivers soul stirring and intoxicating music.

Executive produced by Haydain and Michaela Neale, SOULmate is the fifth release from jacksoul, and is comprised of ten new tracks that showcase a powerful voice in R&B/Soul music, a potent mix of smooth vocals and tight beats, and showcases the simplicity of brilliant songwriting.

All proceeds from the sale of SOULmate will go to the Haydain Neale Family Trust.

Be inspired as we celebrate the 2009 recipients of the AroniIMAGE Awards and the AroniAWARDS Education Bursaries. The AroniAwards Gala launched in 2006 is named after Aron Haile, and honours those individuals who have contributed positively to the community, and ‘inspire’ others to reach for the stars.

Our Inspiration
The Aroni Awards Gala was created in honor of Aron Y. Haile as he was exemplary in creating opportunities for people in diverse backgrounds. Aron Y. Haile, an African Canadian who died in 2003, at the young age of 30, was an accomplished student, entrepreneur, software developer, event planner, theater arts enthusiast and adventurer. His willingness to mentor gave him an avenue to forge many meaningful relations while giving back to his community. Aron believed that you should help those with good character who are applying positive effort to further advance themselves forward despite the obstacles. In December, 2003 while on holidays from his role as a software developer at BMO, his short yet fulfilled life ended in a vehicular accident in Eritrea (East Africa.).
